ANESHWAR Verma, a contract farmer of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajnandgaon was honoured with the Innovative Farmer Award for excellent contribution in the field of agriculture and allied activities. President and Director of Indian Agriculture Institute, New Delhi, Dr Ashok Singh presented the award to contact farmer Aneshwar Verma of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajnandgaon. It is worth mentioning that Aneshwar Verma, a farmer of village Paragaon Khurd of Dongargarh development block is an innovative farmer adopting integrated farming using modern farming techniques under the guidance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Rajnandgaon.

 

He is growing different crop under seed production initiatiove. Paddy, wheat, pulses and oilseed (pigeon pea, soybean) as well as vegetable and horticultural crops using drip irrigation system. Besides integrated farming, he is successfully rearing cattle and fish. The uniqueness of his farming includes his innovative sound system developed using PVC pipes and gas lighters to keep the crops safe from wild animals.

 

Aneshwar Verma has adopted numerous scientific techniques in his farm which includes integrated farming system model, a combination of crop, dairy, poultry, duckery, piggery and fishery. The multiple farming also forest trees like kanhar, sahgon and Neem planted on the bund of field under Silvi Agri Model. He also utilised farm and cattle waste in biogas plant and vermi compost units to prepare high quality organic manure for his farm while biogas is used for house hold purpose. In all these integrated processes, water is a most important component. He utilised rain water through rain water harvesting system. Farmers are inspired by his planned integrated farming and adopting the new scientific technologies for ecological balance and successful multiple farming.
