NADT inaugurates orientation programme “Uttarayan-2024” for newly promoted ACsIT 
 
INAUGURATING a seven week long training for the newly promoted ACsIT here at National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) on Wednesday, Reena Jha Tripathi, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax, Pune, said the officers must develop the skills and abilities to work in digital environment. She also focused the importance of peer learning in an environment where the trainees have an opportunity to interact with each other and learn from their peers. Reena Jha Tripathi was the chief guest of the function. 131 newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax (ACsIT) are currently undergoing training at NADT. Further, Reena Jha Tripathi in her address recalled that the orientation programme for newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Income-Tax was conceptualized during 2007. She further stated that the promoted Assistant Commissioners of Income-tax play an important role in the Income Tax Department.
 
Therefore, a structural change in training programme was necessitated particularly keeping in view the changing dynamics, structural changes in the department and in changing economic environments. At the outset, Anand Baiwar, Director General, NADT, welcomed the chief guest and congratulated all the participants of Uttarayan 2024 for their welldeserved promotion. He stated that Uttarayan for newly promoted Group “A” IRS officers is one of the most important training programmes conducted by NADT. He stated that the curriculum and structure of the Orientation Programme have been planned with a view to enhancing the domain knowledge and functional skills of the trainees, while reinforcing the required behavioural skills, thereby following a competency driven approach for capacity development as mandated by ‘Mission Karmayogi.’
 
The Course Director of Orientation Programme, Uttarayan-2024 presented the batch profile. The batch comprises of 131 officers including 38 lady officers. It represents 19 States and 3 Union territories. The largest contingent of trainees was from Maharashtra, with significant representation from West Bengal, Bihar & Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu. The batch comprises 95 graduates, 34 postgraduates and 3 MBAs. The average work experience of the batch is 28 years. The proceedings concluded with a formal vote of thanks.
