A resident of Model Town Bhilai has tested positive for malaria PFR (Plasmodium Falciparum) fever. The patient, living in house number 351, Vinoba Nagar, Ward No 3, was reported to be suffering from malaria. Given the risk of dengue and malaria, Senior Sanitation Inspector K K Singh of Bhilai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Dengue-Malaria Prevention and Mosquito Eradication team conducted a thorough cleaning operation at the site. The team sprayed Temephos and Malathion inside and outside the patient’s home, including coolers, drains, and surrounding houses. They also provided necessary instructions to nearby residents on how to protect themselves from dengue and malaria. Upon visiting the patient’s house, the team found no one present.

Neighbours informed them that the patient had been admitted to Shankaracharya Medical College. Tushar Verma, from the Dengue-Malaria Prevention team, visited the hospital and learned from the doctors that the 70-year-old patient was not suffering from dengue, but had contracted malaria PFR due to a mosquito bite. Despite ongoing efforts by the BMC and the district administration, residents remain careless. This season sees a rise in mosquito populations, necessitating proper cleanliness and precautions. Residents are advised to keep their surroundings clean, empty water tanks, flower pots, tires, and coolers, and treat them with insecticides to prevent mosquito breeding.
