Shia community took out a painful mourning procession marking the occasion of Muharram on Wednesday morning. The members of Shia community mourned with chains to express their sadness. During this time many bodies became bleeding. Whereas, Songs of ‘Jikr-e-Shahadaten’ were being played on the speaker. In the afternoon, Tazia and Sawari came out as per the tradition of the city on Muharram and marched towards Karbala.

There were heavy police arrangements on the way. After Ashura performed by the Shia community in the morning, a Majlis (public gathering) was held at the Shia Imambara located at Galgala. Following Majlis, an Alam Julus was carried out, in which everyone's eyes became moist after seeing the mourning of Shia youth. Maulana Sadiq Abbas Saheb delivered his discourse at the City Kotwali. After Moulana’s discourse, the procession crossed Bada Phuhara, Niwadganj and Baldeobag and culminated at Ranital Karbala. In the evening, Sham-e-Gariba ki Majlis was organised at Shia Imambada. The previous night was ‘Shahadat ki Raat’ during which a huge crowd gathered on the streets. After many years, such a crowd including children and senior citizens was seen in the city on ‘Shahadat ki Raat’. Langars were arranged at different places where the people were freely served with delicious dishes.

It may be mentioned that the Mourning of Muharram is a set of religious rituals observed by Shia Muslims during the month of Muharram to commemorate the death of Hazrat Imam Hussain, grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the third Shia imam. Hussain and his 72 Janissar were martyred in the Battle of Karbala after remaining thirsty for three days in the field of Karbala. In Shia Islam, Karbala symbolizes the eternal struggle between good and evil, the pinnacle of self-sacrifice, and the ultimate sabotage of Muhammad's prophetic mission.

Later, Tazia Julus were carried out at different places. The procession carried out from Bahora Bag, Char Khamba, Machli Market, Minouiganj, Kotwali, Kamania Gate, Bada Phuhara, Baldeobag, Aaga Chowk, and culminated at Ranital Karbala. Shahzada-e-Mufti-e-Azam Sufi Jiaul Haq Kadri Burhani also visited different Langars. Tajia Julus were carried out in other places of the city as well which were attended by a large numbers of people.
