SHREEANSH Naidu and the pair of Amoli Pendharkar and Mahika Tambe fought back brilliantly to record wins in their respective matches of the Yonex Sunrise Bhagini Mandal Nagpur District Badminton Tournament in progress at Subhedar Badminton Hall, RTMNU Campus in Ravi Nagar on Saturday. Matches featuring the said players were among the 100-odd matches played on penultimate day that went to the wire. In the Under-13 boys singles Round of 16 match, Shreeansh lost the first game to Anay Raich 8-15. But the former came back in the match to take the closely-fought second game 21-20 to take the game into the decider which he won 15-5.

 

In the Under-11 third round robin match of girls doubles, Amoli and Mahika conceded the first game tamely to Aditi Pande and Sharwari Pusadkar 6-15. In the keenly contested next two games, Amoli and Mahika pulled up their socks to prevail 17-15, 15-13. Meanwhile top seeds in the U-15 singles, Aditya Yaul steamrolled Paritosh Sathawane 15-2, 15-3 and in girls singles quarters, Vaishnavi Manglekar beat Dhriti Mehta 15-2, 15-6.
