Severe flooding damages structures and renders roads impassable 32 affected families have been relocated to relief camps Two missing children rescued, hospitalised

The N-1B Dam, constructed by NMDC in the Kirandul Hills of Dantewada district, has sustained damage due to excessive rainfall, resulting in flood damage to numerous houses on Sunday. The district administration promptly evacuated affected residents to safe locations. Waterlogging near the Gatar bridge and CSC Centre in Kirandul has been addressed, and JCB machines have been deployed to clear the roads. Due to the flood, the administration is also relocating people from low-lying areas to safer places. Rescue operations were underway, and affected families were being accommodated in Mangal Bhawan. Children caught in the flood while going to tuition classes were rescued and admitted to the hospital, where their condition was stable.

The district administration continues to warn residents near flood-affected areas to relocate and is keeping a close watch on the situation. According to information received, the region has been experiencing incessant rainfall for the past ten days, leading to inundation of local water bodies. The sudden onslaught of water has resulted in severe flooding, submerging homes and other structures and rendering roads impassable. In distressing developments, it was learnt that two children had gone missing initially, but thankfully, they were located and hospitalised with concerted efforts. If sources are to be believed, 32 affected families have been relocated to relief camps. The most severely affected areas include Bengali Camp and Garder Bridge. The flooding has left behind a trail of devastation, with each household in the affected localities now grappling with up to five feet of debris. Local authorities are actively engaged in facilitating relief efforts, including the restoration of traffic flow. Further updates on the situation were awaited.
