KAUSTAV Barat emerged champion in the inaugural edition of Open Rapid Chess Tournament conducted by Gurukul Chess Academy Saoner and Taluka Chess Association Saoner at Shramik Hall, WCL Saoner. Barat collected seven and a half point to emerge clear winner. He took home Rs 5000 cash prize and a glittering trophy. Roneet Das and Kishan Ahuja ended with identical seven points each but with better tie-breaker score the former was adjudged second. With six and half point their respective kitty, Shaunak Badole and Govind Bhake took the fourth and fifth places. The event was sponsored by Arvind Sahakari Bank Ltd.
