Bhavans’ schools sweep Olympics quiz competition

Trimurti Nagar Branch emerges champion; Wardha, Civil Lines take second and third spots respectively; Chinchbhuvan, finishes fourth in SJAN-Raisoni event 
 
SCHOOLS from different branches of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir swept the QuizZest, a quiz competition on Olympic Games organised by SGR Knowledge Foundation and Sports Journalists Association of Nagpur (SJAN) at Riaan Tower, Sadar, on Wednesday. The competition was supported by Raisoni Group of Institutions and District Sports Office. Schools from Bhavan’s won all the prizes on offer making it a clean sweep. Bhavan’s Trimurti Nagar branch garnered 11 points to emerge the champions. The team comprised Advait Lade, Mrunal Kokate, Abheer Warnekar and Naman Tripathi. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Lloyds Vidya Niketan, Wardha consisting of Piyush Kalontri, Abhinav Jarodkar, Anay Pandit and Aoradhaya Jha, finished at the second spot with six points while Bhavan’s, Civil Lines, Nagpur ended at third position with five points.
 
The team consisted of Avaneesh Awari, Vivaan Chandurkar, Aashna Badwaik and Shrawani Mazarkar. Bhavan’s, Chinchbhuvan, having Aaron George, Shivani Rahangdale, Akshansh Singh and Pravin Lohakare as its members were declared fourth on cumulative points. Total 34 teams from different schools of the city and one team from Wardha participated in the competition. Out of the 35 teams, BVM Trimurti Nagar, BVM, Wardha, BVM, Civil Lines, GH Raisoni, Ambazari, BVM, Chincbhuvan and Narayana Vidyalayam made it to the final round. The winners received cash prize of Rs 7,000, trophy and medals while the runners-up got Rs 5,000, trophy and medals.
 
The third placed team got Rs 3,000, trophy and medals while fourth placed team had to be content with Rs 1500 and a trophy. All the students received participation certificates. Sunil Raisoni, Chairman, Raisoni Group of Institutions was chief guest of the prize distribution function. Palakh Raisoni, Director, Raisoni Education; Mangesh Mopkar, international table tennis umpire; Dr Ram Thakur, President SJAN; Paritosh Pramanik, Secretary, SJAN also shared the dais. Amit Gandhare, PRO, Raisoni Group of Institutions, was prominently present during the entire event. Naresh Shelke and Amit Sampat were the quiz masters while Sayali Waghmare, international athlete, was the time keeper. Dr Amina Vali, Director, Sadabai Raisoni Women’s College, and volunteers of the college worked hard for success of the event. Sakina Raghib conducted the programme while Dr Mrunal Naik, Project Head, Sports and Cultural Foundation, Raisoni Group, proposed a vote of thanks.
