NAGPUR runners excelled in the Pachmarhi Monsoon Marathon that was organised by Adventures and You and supported by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB). The event had a total participation of 1,115 runners from across the country. In the 21-km men’s category, Nagpurians Mohit Kore (1:36:08), Manohar Barai (1:36:24) and Akshay Dadwe (1:36:43) made it 1-2-3 to finish first, second and third respectively. In the women’s section, city’s Nidhi Tarare shone carving out a time of 1:52:41. In the 10-km, women’s section, city’s Rita Tarare (47:42) and Tanu Bhajankar (57:49) clinched the first and second spots respectively. In the 42-km men’s full marathon, in spite of very heavy rains, the runners started the race at 03:00 am.

 

Ankit Sharma (3:14:49), Aniket Yadav (3:15:53), Gangaram Mourya (3:26:47) achieved first three places respectively. In the women’s section, Premlata Gupta (4:26:13), Nikita Mandloi (4:40:27) and Sapna Parwani (6:16:21) took the honours. Dr Santosh Shrivastava, Joint Director, Adventure Division, MPTB; Khandelwal, Finance Head, MPTB; KK Singh, Assistant Director, Adventure Division, MPTB were prominent present during the prize distribution ceremony. Brooks India Limited was running partner of the race while Torque’s Jal mineral water was hydration partner of the marathon. Race Director Mitesh Rambhia conducted the proceedings and Smita Khare proposed a vote of thanks. OTHER Results 10-km men: Vishal Kaushal (37:18), Jasvinder Toor (38:47), Abhijeet Bodile (42:18). 5-km men: Amit Prajapati (20,05), Anshu Singh (20:29), Shantanu Dadmal (21:39). 5-km women: Jaishri Bhure (29:08), Navya Pathik (32:47), Kammushetti Namrutha (35:50).
