A Combine team of Defence Estate Office, Cantonment Board and Army QRT bulldozed illegal construction in the Cantonment area and freed 5,000 sq ft defence land on Wednesday. According to the Defence Estate Officer, Neha Gupta they received information about illegal construction of defence land in GLR Survey No-88 which is known as Bungalow No-2 on Narmada road. The said land is old grant property owned by the Government of India. Some days back, a man named Amarjeet Singh Khullar illegally sold out 200 sq ft of total 1182 sq ft land where a kuchha house with tin shade was existing. Similarly, Manpal Kaur illegally sold out 500 sq ft of total 3000 sq ft land in Bungalow No-2 where a tin shade was established. Both the persons Amarjeet Singh Khullar and Manpal Kaur are not the legal owner of said lands but they had sold out the lands owned by the Government of India without taking permission from concerned officer.

DEO office had intimated the buyer of defence land but they could not respond the intimation and started construction works on defence land. Taking stern action, a combine team of Defence Estate Office, Cantonment Board Jabalpur and Army QRT reached the spot and demolished the illegal construction of defence land. Defence Estate Office took the possession of defence land. In further investigation, it was found that the Khullar couple had sold out the defence land through registry from Deputy Registrar Office, on September 27, 2023. The matter came to light when buyer Nishant Sharma reached at Defence Estate Office and applied for construction on land. In scrutiny of documents, Defence Estate Officer learnt about illegal sale of defence land.
