Safety of women

Sir,

Growing heinous rape cases in various parts of the country have triggered a nationwide outrage. Be the sexual abuse of two girls of Badlapur near Mumbai or be the horrific rape of a junior doctor in the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. PM Modiji also upped the ante vociferously saying that crimes against women is unpardonable offence and the perpetrators must not go unpunished. In my opinion, draconian law must be rolled out but it is also not good enough to curb such crimes. Rape cases can not be stopped drastically unless and until the moral and ethical values towards women are inculcated and instilled into the young minds. Unfortunately, in the 21st century, the objectification of women can not be ruled out keeping the surging rape cases in mind. The commodification of women is enviably a societal issue that needs to be addressed.
