The same historic, vast, and beautiful Kasturchand Park, the pride of the city of Nagpur ! But the authorities in control of such a place have managed to mess it up by way of utter neglect. Today, the Kasturchand Park resembles sort of Zudupi Jungle -- full of wild shrubs. All ‘The Hitavada’ has done is to publish one picture of the Kasturchand Park under utter neglect. The picture -- taken in long-shot -- shows the beautifully-architectured historic band-stand made from sandstone more than a hundred years ago shrouded in the shrub. There also is a walking track that meanders through the wild growth, making the users feel quite insecure. Obviously, this wild growth has not come up in a split-second, so to say. It has emerged from the ground over a pretty long time -- during which the honourable authorities in charge of the place haven’t found time and inclination to visit it every now and then and clean up the wild growth and keep the Kasturchand Park in good shape. We wish to remind the readers at this stage that the honourable High Court of Judicature at Nagpur had taken a cognisance of the neglect of Kasturchand Park a couple of years ago. As part of that exercise, honourable Judges had paid a visit to the Kasturchand Park to see for themselves the neglect of the place. At that time, they had issued necessary instructions to the authorities in charge of the Kasturchand Park. Today, we ask: What has happened to those instructions? We also ask another question: What about the conscience of the keepers of the Kasturchand Park? And yet another question: Who should be held guilty for converting the beautiful Kasturchand Park into sort of a hellish heath? We have many other questions as well -- which we will raise at a right time later.
