THE Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently conducting searches at multiple locations in Raipur, targeting a Senior Audit Officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Chhattisgarh. The searches come as part of an investigation into allegations that the officer possesses Disproportionate Assets (DA) beyond his known sources of income.

“The accused, who joined the service on July 13, 2006 as a Section Officer with a grade pay of Rs 4,800, has reportedly acquired or purchased nearly 10 immovable properties each year, including agricultural land and residential plots,” official sources privy to the ongoing searches told The Hitavada. It is further alleged that the officer engaged in corrupt activities, deliberately enriching himself through illicit means. Over the period from August 31, 2007 to May 31, 2024, the accused is believed to have accumulated both movable and immovable assets worth approximately Rs 3.89 crore in his name and that of his wife. The assets are allegedly disproportionate to the officer’s known sources of income, with an estimated discrepancy of Rs 1.47 crore.
