WAKING up from their slumber, the officials responsible for the maintenance of roads on Tuesday initiated the actions of filling up the potholes of the roads. Notably, ‘The Hitavada’ had raised the issue on Monday and had drawn the attention of authorities towards the same. As per information, such areas were initiated at the areas in the close vicinity of Moti mosque and old city. Significantly, the roads in the city are all filled with potholes, and pose a serious problem to the commuters of the city while travelling from one place to another. Previously, too on many occasions, the department had initiated such activities but no respite was seen for the citizens.

 

The issue was an intense topic of debate in the council meeting of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) held at the end of last month. Also, as reported earlier, the roads in the city are at the helm of the Public Works Department (PWD) and BMC with the former having the responsibility of major roads and the latter is accountable to citizens for maintaining interior roads along with some prominent ones. It has been also witnessed that both departments have been passing the basket in each other’s shed on the name of road maintenance and repairing with none of them taking the responsibility leaving the commuters to suffer.
