IMPROVING access to health
services, State Government
opened Jan Aushadhi Kendras
in all the district hospitals on
Tuesday. Under the Union
Government’s initiative to
increase affordable medicines
centres across the country,
Governor Mangubhai Patel and
Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav
inaugurated Pradhan Mantri
Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi
Kendras in all the district hospitals on the first day of
Swachhata Hi Seva Fortnight
2024 starting from September
17. Discerning people find this
is an important step to provide
affordable and quality
generic medicines to the citizens. The launch of Jan
Aushadhi Kendras in hospitals
is a major step towards improving access to health services.
More than 300 medicines will
be available at free of cost at
govt. hospitals, for this Chief
Minister Dr Mohan Yadav
extended gratitude towards
Governor Patel. Affordable and
accessible medicines will
enable people to continue their
treatment, which will improve
their health outcomes.
This
centre will play an important
role, especially in the management of chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension,
and heart disease.
Notably, during his
Independence Day speech,
Prime Minister Narendra
Modi at Red Fort had said that
the Government has plans to
increase the number of ‘Jan
Aushadhi Kendras’ from
10,000 to 25,000. He said that
Jan Aushadhi Kendras given
a new power to the people

someone is diagnose with
diabetes then a monthly bill
of Rs 3,000 get accrued.
Through Jan Aushadhi
Kendras, the medicines that
cost Rs 100, we are giving it
at Rs 10 to Rs 15,” he said.
He said that the Government
is working to increase the
number of ‘Jan Aushadhi
Kendra’ (subsidised medicine shops) from 10,000 to
25,000.
Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya
Jan Aushadhi Kendra Project
was launched in 2008 to provide affordable and quality
generic medicines.
The
scheme gained momentum
after 2015. Its objective was
to ensure access to affordable medicines across the
country. At present, more
than 500 Jan Aushadhi
Kendras are operational in
the State. These kendras have
been established in both
urban and rural areas, ensuring the availability of affordable medicines to all citizens.
Thousands of people are
buying cheap and quality
medicines every day through
these Kendras leading to
huge savings in their monthly medical expenses. Now
Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya
Jan Aushadhi Kendras are
being opened in all the district hospitals also.
Benefits:- The main objective is to provide quality
generic medicines to everyone at affordable rates.

medicines.
