In a remarkable story of determination, Om Narayan Kushwaha, a simple farmer from Ratua Ratanpur village in Bhopal district, has achieved significant success by leveraging the agricultural and horticultural department's schemes. In 2020, Kushwaha started a nursery with just 10,000 plants, which has now grown to successfully manage over 250,000 plants. His efforts have not only increased his own income but also provided employment opportunities for 5-6 people in his village. Om Narayan Kushwaha’s successful journey commenced when he connected with the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department and received training at the Navibagh Agricultural Research Center in Bhopal on developing polyhouses and nurseries.

Armed with newfound confidence from this training, he started a small nursery where he cultivates hybrid plants of brinjal, tomato, chili, bottle gourd, cucumber, and other vegetables. He has made significant contributions by supplying Seminis, Phazenta, and Ankura BNR variety vegetable plants to farmers in Bhopal and surrounding districts. Om Narayan Kushwaha has successfully leveraged the government’s drip irrigation system to achieve higher plant yields with minimal water usage. He actively participates in various training sessions organized by the agriculture department and is now traveling to multiple states across the country to receive advanced farming training. Om Narayan Kushwaha owns 8 acres of land, which he previously cultivated only 1-2 acres due to water scarcity. However, after digging a well that provided ample water, he is now able to farm his entire land. In 2021, he received training in polyhouse construction and built a small polyhouse to further enhance his agricultural practices. Additionally, Om Narayan Kushwaha has expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and urged fellow farmers to take advantage of the training and schemes offered by the agriculture department to boost their income. His story serves as an inspiration for farmers, demonstrating that with the right guidance and access to resources, they too can change their fortunes.
