A workshop on women’s harassment was organised in the main office of Bhilai Municipal Corporation. The event was chaired by Dipti Sahu from BMC, and attended by Rachayita Naidu, Project Officer BMC, Preeti Bala, an officer from Women and Child Development, Durg District, and advocate Uma Sahu. During the workshop, a detailed discussion on women’s safety was held, and women were informed about how they can resolve their complaints. In accordance with government directives, a committee has been formed in BMC to prevent harassment against women. The workshop aimed to educate women about standing up against misconduct and exploitation at the workplace. They were informed about their rights under the acts and sections issued by the government and how they can fight against harassment.

Around 70 to 80 women participated in the workshop. Each woman was provided with information about legal rules and regulations, and a question-and-answer session was held to address their concerns. Many participants shared their personal issues during the session. The workshop was also attended by NGO president Shanu Mohanan, Rita Chaturvedi, Secretary of the Internal Education Committee, along with other officials and women from BMC.
