Bhopal District Congress Committee Scheduled Caste Department led by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Arif Masood on Thursday gathered a large number of Congress workers at State Bank Square and reached the Collector’s office shouting slogans with placards in their hands and submitted a memorandum after protesting. After this, Shahjahanabad police station was gheraoed over the incident of killing a 5-year-old girl in Idgah Multi and throwing her in a water tank and the officials were asked to arrest the criminals as soon as possible and run the cases in fast track court so that the victim gets timely justice.
Addressing the protestors, MLA Arif Masood said that the Chief Minister, who also holds the Home Department, is proving unsuccessful in stopping continuous incidents of sexual exploitation, rape, kidnapping of women and minor girls in the State.
“Women and girls are not safe even in the capital. Incidents of crime are increasing continuously,” he said.
Giving a list of recent rape incidents in the city, MLA Masood demanded the Government to take strict steps in this regard by arresting the accused with immediate effect and running the cases in fast track court to ensure speedy justice. On this occasion, a large number of women including Congress Committee Scheduled Caste Department President Mewalal Kanarji, Councilor Wasimuddin Pappu, Anita Kanarji, Laika Rafiq Qureshi, Naseem Gafoor were present.
