RAIPUR
Court slaps hefty fine on parents of a minor caught following a chase while riding on a high-powered Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle fitted with ear-deafening and spark-throwing silencer in its wake
IN A bold move to curb the
increasing trend of underage
and reckless riding, Raipur
Police have slapped a fine of
Rs 30,000 on the parents of a
minor caught dangerously riding a heavily modified Royal
Enfield Bullet motorcycle.
According to police sources,
the incident occurred on the
night of September 1st, when
the minor was seen racing
through the streets on a 350-
CC Royal Enfield Bullet motorcyle equipped with an ear-deafening and spark-throwing
silencer—an illegal modification that poses serious safety
risks. The minor’s antics, which
included stunts and highspeed maneuvers, were
promptly halted by a vigilant
police team.
“Azad Chowk Station House
Officer (SHO) Pramod Kumar
Singh chased the minor from
Rajkumar College to Vandana
Auto Showroom on G E Road,
near Vivekananda Ashram TriJunction, before apprehending him.
The officers then
seized the motorcycle and took the minor into custody, ensuring that swift action was
taken,” the sources added. Police sources further revealed
that a case was filed against the parents of the minor
under Section 199 (A) of the Motor Vehicle Act (MV) and
Section 182 A (4) of the Motor Vehicle Act (MV), underscoring the seriousness of the offence. Additionally, the
parents of minor were also charged under Section 4/181
of the Motor Vehicle Act (MV) for allowing underage driving. The case was subsequently brought before the Court
of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), presided over
by Judge Kriti Kujur. “Recognizing the grave nature of the
offence, the court imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on the parents, making it clear that such violations would not be
taken lightly,” the sources maintained.
Sources also informed that the minor boy is scheduled
to be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, Mana,
on Wednesday by his parents along with a team of Azad
Chowk police station.
Raipur Police not to
tolerate such reckless
disregard for public safety
“THIS incident serves as a stern warning to all underage riders and their guardians. Riding a motorcycle
without proper authorization, especially one that has
been illegally modified to create ear-deafening noise
and sparks, is not just a breach of the law—it’s a perilous act that endangers the lives of the rider and others on the road,” asserted SHO Pramod Kumar Singh
while talking to The Hitavada.
According to SHO Singh, Raipur Senior
Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Santosh Kumar
Singh has reiterated his commitment to cracking down
on such dangerous behaviour, emphasizing that the
parents will be held accountable for their children’s
illegal actions.
“Parents are urged to take responsibility and prevent their children from engaging in such
hazardous activities. The fine imposed in this case
should act as a deterrent to others, signalling that Raipur
Police will not tolerate such reckless disregard for public safety. The Raipur police have pledged to continue their vigilance, ensure that the roads remain safe
and that the message is clear: underage stunt riding
will face severe consequences,” he added.
