A 65-year-old woman ended her life by drowning in Ambazari Lake. Ambazari Police have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation. The deceased was identified as Shashikala Devidas Soyam, , a resident of Plot No. 699, Kushi Nagar, Jaripatka, was reportedly depressed due to ongoing family disputes with her sons. The incident occurred around 3.30 pm.

 

The woman came to the lake and ventured into the water. Onlookers alerted the police. Ambazari Police rushed to the scene and recovered Soyam’s body from the lake. Her Aadhaar card and mobile phone were found on the lake’s bank. Police contacted her sons and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Investigations revealed that Soyam had two sons. One worked on a contract basis at Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, while the other was employed at a beer bar. According to police, Soyam had a short temper and strained relationships with her sons’ families. She lived alone in rented accommodation. A heated argument had taken place between Soyam and her sons’ families two days prior to the incident, which reportedly left her deeply distressed, stated police quoting statements of her sons.
