The 24th All India Police Water Sports Competition concluded with grand success, where top performances in kayaking, canoeing, and rowing were witnessed at the historical Upper lake in Bhopal. The prestigious event, hosted by Madhya Pradesh Police, brought together 22 teams comprising 557 athletes from various state police and central paramilitary forces. The competition witnessed ITBP dominating the kayaking category, BSF securing the canoeing championship, and CRPF taking the lead in rowing.
The closing ceremony was held under the esteemed presence of Governor Mangubhai Patel, who honored the winners and appreciated the efforts of the organizers. He praised the Madhya Pradesh Police for hosting the prestigious event for the sixth time and acknowledged the active participation of various police forces across the country. Governor Patel emphasized the importance of sports in personal development and life lessons.
He encouraged athletes to maintain humility and discipline even in success and to inspire future generations with their accomplishments. He also commended the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting sports through initiatives like ‘Fit India Movement' and 'Khelo India’.
Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang also congratulated the Madhya Pradesh Police for their flawless execution of the event. He highlighted that sports not only improve physical fitness but also enhance mental resilience, especially for personnel in services like police, paramilitary, and defense forces. Sarang emphasized that police forces play a crucial role in ensuring law and order while also excelling in physical challenges.
The competition saw impressive performances across multiple events. In kayaking, ITBP claimed the overall championship with 9 golds, 4 silvers, and 1 bronze, while BSF secured the runner-up position. In canoeing, BSF dominated with 9 golds, 3 silvers, and 3 bronzes, while Uttar Pradesh Police finished as runners-up. In rowing, CRPF excelled, securing 4 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze, with Assam Rifles taking the second spot.
Governor Patel also presented the winners of the kayaking, canoeing, and rowing events with medals and trophies, marking a fitting conclusion to a highly successful competition.
