A tragic incident occurred in Bhopal on Saturday morning, despite the city being on high alert. A 29-year-old man, identified as Narendra Sikarware, jumped to his death from the Arch Bridge on the Lower Lake, which falls under the Shyamla Hills police station.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was seen scaling the railings of the bridge at around 11:30 am. Some commuters attempted to stop him, but he managed to free himself and jump into the water.
Nagar Nigam divers, who were present at the spot,
immediately jumped into the lake and brought the man out, but unfortunately, he had already succumbed to his injuries.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are trying to determine the reason behind the man’s extreme step.
The body has been sent for autopsy, and further investigations are being carried out.
It is worth noting that the Prime Minister’s visit to Bhopal had led to a significant increase in security measures across the city, with multiple layers of security checks and patrols in place. However, despite these precautions, the incident occurred, highlighting the challenges of ensuring public safety in crowded areas.
