Two bodies fished out, one rescued, search on for 4th girl
On Sunday afternoon, three minor girls who went for taking bath in a canal at Paraswara village, were drowned. One was rescued by villagers, two bodies have been retrieved and search is on for the third girl.
The incident occurred at Paraswara village under jurisdiction of Umariapaan police station. All four girls went to Bargi Dam Right Side canal in afternoon for taking bath. They went inside the canal and moved into the spot where the canal was deep due to which they drowned.
Villagers jumped into the canal to save the girls but only one girl could be saved. The four girls, Sidhika (12), Manvi (8), both daughters of Manoj Lodhi; Anshika (13), daughter of Basant Patel and Ananya (12), daughter of Ajay Patel, all
residents of Paraswara, were drowned in the canal. Ananya was saved by the villagers.
Police and Homeguard team reached the spot and started the rescue work.
The team retrieved the body of Sidhika and Anshika while the body of Manvi could not be traced. Rescue team is still at the spot to find body of Manvi.
Sidhika was a student of Class 7 while Manvi was a Class III student. Their father works in Mumbai. Their mother was at home when this mishap occurred, Anshika was a student of Class 9th and Ananya is a student of class 6th.
As per information, one woman saw the girls drowning. She immediately ran and called a fellow villager whose field is situated near the canal, he jumped and saved one girl. But could not see the other three. Soon large number of villagers gathered and called police.
Villagers are in a state of shock with untimely demise of three small girls.
