Divyang Welfare Department, Mumbai and Late Prabhakarrao Datke Smriti Seva Sanstha will be organising State Level Sports Competition for Differently-Abled Boys and Girls in Nagpur from March 21. The competition will be held at Reshimbagh ground and Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education ground. Addressing a press conference, Dr Subhash Raut, President, Prabhakarrao Datke Smriti Seva Sanstha, informed that around 3500 participants and teachers will be taking part in the three-day competition. “Competitions will be held in running, long jump, swimming, shot-put, wheelchair race, chess in different age groups between 8-12, 13-6, 17-21, 22-25,” said Dr Raut. Umesh Warjurkar, member of the organising committee, stated that participants from 36 districts of Maharashtra will be vying for the top honours.

 

The competition will be inaugurated on March 21 at 7.30 pm by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, said Dr Raut. The morning session will be held from 7 to 10.30 while the evening session will take place between 4.30 and 6. “Top three podium finishers will be rewarded with medals, certificates and mementoes,” Warjurkar said. Boys and girls in intellectually challenged, deaf and dumb, blind, physically challenged, multi-disabled categories will be taking part in the three-day meet.
