The agriculture officials on Friday inspected the wheat crop of DBW-303 variety being grown by farmer Shivbalak Patel at village Gandhigram under development block Sihora. During this, Assistant Director, Ravi Amravanshi, Kirti Verma and Agriculture Extension Officer, Brishabhan Ahirwar were present with a large number of local farmers. Farmer, Shivbalak Patel told that along with Lucky Patel, he had planted DBW-303 variety in the year 2021. Later he found that few ears of DBW-303 variety of wheat were quite big and thick. They prepared about 500 grams of seeds by taking out 15 to 20 big and thick ears of these wheat, which they again sowed separately in their field in the year 2022 and again prepared 30 kg of seeds from it.
Similarly, Patel again prepared 11 quintals of wheat seed in half an acre area in the year 2023 and gave 1 quintal of wheat each to
Lucky Patel of village Pathrai and Mohit Patel of village Gandhigram. This seed has been planted by both the farmers in their respective fields in the year 2024-25. Shivbalak Patel further told that he has sown this seed in his own 4 acres of field. Thus this seed has been sown in 9 acres this year, which yields 22 to 25 quintals per acre. During inspection, the agriculture officers found these ears having length of about 8 inches and thickness was more than other varieties of wheat. Observing the wonderful result, the farmers of the area have demanded this seed to sow in their fields.
Patel has directly sown DBW 187 variety of wheat without plowing without burning paddy stubble by Happy Seeder in another part of his field. This wheat crop has been ready in 120 to 125 days. Due to this, the summer crop has got enough time. Patel now planned to sow urad in the same field soon through Happy Seeder, so that the urad crop will be ready before the rains.
