Some unidentified miscreants killed over 500 chickens in a poultry farm situated at village Sirsakhurd falling under Pulgaon Police Station limits. The miscreants hit the chickens with sticks and fled after killing all the chickens present in the farm. Notably, the chickens were supposed to be sent to Odisha and just a day before the delivery, the chickens were found dead in the farm. Pulgaon Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) in this connection under section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for mischief by killing animal and are investigating further into the matter. Sources informed that the farm owner Arvind Sarve (49), son of Seetaram is former Janpad member and he grows country chicken in his poultry farm situated at village Sirsakhurd. On the intervening nights of Tuesday and Wednesday, some unidentified miscreants entered his farm and killed over 500 chickens present there. Two to three heavy sticks with which chicken were hit mercilessly were also found lying on the spot.
 
Arvind’s son had left the farm after feeding the chicken in the midnight while on the following morning when Arvind’s father went to the farm he was shocked on finding all the chickens lying dead. The estimated value of the birds killed was around Rs 3.50 lakh. Arvind said that he doesn’t have any kind of dispute with anyone in the village and he was hence unable to hint at any individual’s involvement. He said that on Wednesday evening, all the chickens were supposed to be sent to Odisha as he had entered into a deal for selling the same. Meanwhile, the dead chickens have been buried by the owner near Sheonath River banks to avoid spread of any disease. Notably, anti social elements are usually seen near the poultry farm smoking marijuana and their involvement is suspected in the incident. Meanwhile, Jeora Sirsa Police Outpost In-charge was on leave and was hence not available for the comment.
