(State Board) emerged champions of the 5th edition of Late Archbishop Abraham Viruthakulangara Memorial Inter-School Football Tournament organised by SFS School Sadar, the other day. In the exciting summit clash, St John’s defeated hosts SFS 5-2 via tie-breaker after both the teams were locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time. SFS shot into the lead in the 21st minute of play when Kurtab Deshbarta bulged the net. However, St John’s kept cooland waited for the opportunity. The found the gap in SFSdefence in the 24th minute andSahil Samudare level the scorewith a solo effort. Samudre, MosesJoseph, Umar Sheikh and LavitSingh scored for St John’s whilefor SFS, only Ammar Sheikh managed to find the back of the net.St John’s got a rolling trophyas well as a champions trophy.
