WOODBALL Association of Maharashtra, under the aegis of Woodball Association of India, will be conducting 19th men and women and 13th sub-junior boys and girls national woodball championship from Sunday. The competition will be held at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University’s Sports Complex in Ravi Nagar. Around 500 players from 25 States and Union Territories are participating in the four-day competition, Kumar Masram, President of Maharashtra Woodball Association, informed. The tournament will be inaugurated by Director General of Accounts Dinesh Patil (IAAS) on Sunday at 6 pm. President of the Woodball Association of India, MLA Dr Ashish Deshmukh will preside over. The nationals are being organised in Nagpur for the ninth time. Competitions will be played in singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team events in morning and evening sessions. Former MLA Dr Milind Mane, Deepak Kumar Agarwal (IAS), Mohit Chadha, Acting Director (Sports) RTMNU Dr Vishakha Joshi will also remain present. The prize distribution function will be held on March 26 at 11:30 am in the presence of Principal Income Tax Commissioner RK Jha and MLA Dr Ashish Deshmukh, vice-chancellor RTMNU Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware, Registrar Raju Hiwase. Woodball Federation of India Secretary Ajay Sontakke, Senior Vice President Kishor Bagde, Treasurer Praveen Manwatkar, Technical Committee Officers Sudeep Manwatkar, Govind Jha, Hemant Payer, Dr Shriram Aglave, Dr Sudhir Kahate are working hard for the success of the event.
