MOHD Faiz’s second successive century was the highlight of the day as once again five hundreds were recorded on Day One of the second round of Group League matches of the Dr MN Dorairajan Trophy that began at various grounds of the city on Monday. Three of the five centuries were scored by Medical Representatives’ Cricket Club, who piled up a mammoth 584-7 before declaring against Anurag Cricket Club, Kamptee. Tushar Kadu (107), Amaan Hussain (119) and Shubham Patil (100 not out). made merry as rival bowlers wilted in the heat. Vedant Jajoo made 121 for Ministerial Services Sports Club, who declared their innings after making 358-8 against All India Reporter. Mohd Faiz registered his second century in as many matches when he logged 135 for Navniketan Cricket Club who raced to 233-3 after skittling out Advocates’ XI CC for 105. Faiz’s 153-ball knock had 14 boundaries and three sixes. In the first round match against Eleven Star, Faiz had hammered 120 runs from 104 balls with five fours and as many sixes. On Monday, only two bowlers registered five-wicket hauls with AIR’s Kautubh Salve (5-123) and Eleven Star CC’s Arnav Sinha (5-91) shining through.
