20 agricultural extension officers attend

A two-day training on Sesame and Ramtil seed was organised at Attari, Zone-IX, Jabalpur under the National Oilseeds and Oil Palm Mission on Wednesday. The prorgamme was organised under the direction of Dr Pramod Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University (JNAU) and guidance of Dr A K Vishwakarma, Project coordinator, All India Coordinated Research Project (Sesame and Ramtil Seeds). Twenty agricultural extension officers from 7 blocks of Jabalpur district participated in the training. Dr SRK Singh (Director, Attari Zone-IX, Jabalpur) was the chief guest during inaugural session of the training program. Dr Ashutosh Srivastava (Principal, Agricultural College, Jabalpur), Project Coordinator Dr Vishwakarma and Principal Scientist Dr Rajni Bisen and Senior Scientist Dr Namrata Jain were present as special guests. Project Coordinator Dr Vishwakarma told about the importance of soil health management for sustainable agriculture and oilseed production.
 
Dr Namrata Jain, Agricultural Scientist and Nodal Officer, National Oilseeds and Oil Palm Mission, expressed her views on the advanced production techniques of sesame and Ramtil seed. Principal Scientist Dr Rajni Bisen shared about the improved varieties of sesame and Ramtil seed and Senior Technical Assistant, VK Katara gave information about agricultural extension.
 
The officers were taken on a tour of Til and Ramtil field. Dr JS Mishra, Director, Weed Research Directorate Jabalpur and Dr Singh, Director, Attari Zone IX, Jabalpur, were present at the closing ceremony during second day. Principal scientist Dr RP Dubey explained the principles of weed management in sesame and Ramtil seed. Scientist Dr Haris MN and Scientist Dr KN Gupta also shared their opinions. Assistant Professor in Soil Science Dr R K Sahu conducted a tour of the biofertilizer unit. During final phase, the agricultural extension officers were honored with certificates. The program was conducted by SRF Ramkumar Patel and the vote of thanks was given by Field Assistant, Devyaratna Uike.
