PM Modi likely to visit

Business Reporter :

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be in the city on March 30, is likely to visit Solar Industries Ltd’s facility located at Bazargaon on Amravati Road. Sources told ‘The Hitavada’ that the Prime Minister will visit a 1.5 km long air strip developed by the company for testing of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). It is important to note that Solar Industries is the first private player in the country that has developed such a facility. UAS require horizontal takeoff and landing for which the air strip will be used.

As of now, such a facility is available at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Chitradurga. In the emerging technology scenario, drones and unmanned aerial systems are going to play a vital role for both civil as well as for military applications. Under the visionary leadership of Chairman Satyanarayan Nuwal, Solar Industries has taken a number of initiatives towards weaponisation of drones, developing variants of Loiter Munitions (LM), Counter Drone Systems, Drone-based Mine Detection and Disposal System, etc.
