Pusad, Mar 26
Pusad taluka is reeling under severe water crisis, specially its tribal-dominated villages. With the wells gone dry in March itself, people are worried as to how would they get through the entire summer. Women of tribal villages Yeldari and Savargaon Gore in Khandala Ghat are struggling for every ounce of water as the water level in wells is going down fast.
Savargaon Gore and Yeldari villages are facing a dire situation with women gathering around wells under the scorching sun for a couple of buckets of water. Dr Aarti Fupate, former ZP President and BJP’s State Vice-President, recently visited Yeldari.
She witnessed the rigorous effort to collect water. After this, she stormed the Pusad Panchayat Samiti office along with village women with water pots on their heads.
They demanded the administration to immediately provide water tankers to villages and give some relief to people. In response, the Group Development Officer stated that a proposal to start tankers had already been submitted to the District Collector. The Sub-Divisional Officer was contacted and it was agreed that drinking water would be supplied to these villages via tankers soon.
