The Special Protection Group (SPG) and the City Police on Saturday conducted a full dress rehearsal for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Nagpur, which is scheduled for Sunday. The rehearsal focused on the route the Prime Minister will be taking during his tour. The convoy for the Prime Minister will consist of over 20 special vehicles, including those equipped with VIP Protection and RCIED Jammer devices. SPG officials reviewed key locations that the Prime Minister will visit during his visit to the city. Although the SPG is responsible for the Prime Minister’s overall security, the city police will provide additional support with over 5,000 officers and staff already deployed at various spots.

The Prime Minister is set to arrive in Nagpur at 8.40 am, after which he will visit several important locations. At 9 am, he will visit Smruti Bhavan at Reshimbagh, followed by Deekshabhoomi at 9.30 am, Madhav Nethralaya at 10 am, and the Solar Explosives Company at 12.05 pm. The SPG will be in charge of the Prime Minister’s security during his five-hour stay. It will be assisted by the city police in securing the area. In light of recent violence in Nagpur’s Mahal area, strict security measures are being put in place. A total of 5,000 police officers, including Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads, Anti-Riot Squads, and Quick Response Teams, will be deployed to ensure safety. Additionally, 900 Traffic Police officers will be deployed to manage the traffic during the visit. This includes 400 officers from the Transport Department, 200 from the City Police, and 300 from the Home Guard. The SPG, which arrived in Nagpur on Thursday, is finalising all security arrangements ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
