Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Tuesday announced that grand gateways bearing the names of Emperor Vikramaditya, Raja Bhoj, and other great historical figures will be constructed along major thoroughfares in the State capital. This initiative aims to acquaint the present generation with Madhya Pradesh’s glorious history and showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage. Chief Minister Dr Yadav emphasised that the identity of Bhopal and numerous other locations in the state is deeply rooted in their historical rulers. He highlighted Emperor Vikramaditya’s valour, justice, selflessness, generosity, prowess, and good governance, which earned him a distinguished place in history. He also mentioned Raja Bhoj’s construction of the Upper Lake and numerous other creations, which continue to evoke his memory in Bhopal and various parts of the State.

 

Chief Minister Dr Yadav stated that the State Government’s initiative to construct gateways named after these great figures will enable the people of Madhya Pradesh to become acquainted with their glorious past and instill a sense of pride. This step will not only honour history but also foster a sense of pride among the people. These gateways will serve as constant reminders of Emperor Vikramaditya’s exemplary governance and Raja Bhoj’s creativity as people traverse Bhopal’s roads.

 

The Government’s objective is to bring the glorious history of the capital city to the general public. Bhopal, also known as the City of Lakes, derives its name from Bhoj Tal, a lake built by the 11th-Century Hindu King, Raja Bhoj. Bhopal’s history is intertwined with the Parmar kings, Gond rulers, and Nawabs. Throughout Madhya Pradesh, numerous great rulers, including Emperor Vikramaditya, Raja Bhoj, Chandragupta Maurya, Emperor Ashoka and Rani Durgavati, have reigned. This Government initiative will further strengthen the legacy of these great figures. Chief Minister Dr Yadav’s announcement is expected to enhance Bhopal’s historical and cultural significance, allowing future generations to connect with their glorious past. This initiative is also anticipated to boost tourism in the city.
