After moderate rains and thunderstorm in city, heavy traffic-jam at Amravati Road on Wednesday evening brought the vehicular traffic on the busy road to a standstill for hours. Thanks to non-functional traffic signal and ongoing fly-over construction work near the University Campus, the vehicular traffic from all directions at the square slowed down, and around 6.30 pm, it was all chaos due to the traffic-jam. Vehicles coming from Wadi lined up on the road till National Citrus Research Institute (NRCC) gate.

Whereas, traffic coming from Ravi Nagar was also stuck in the heavy traffic-jam. Drivers of many four-wheelers and buses resorted to plying on the wrong side of the road worsening the already chaotic situation. Almost for one hour, no traffic cop was there to ease the traffic movement. The traffic jam lasted almost for more than two hours as many commuters were puzzled and unaware about the cause of the traffic jam.

Many came out of their vehicles and were curious to know the reason of the traffic-jam. After intervention of cops, the traffic jam slowly started easing. The cops had a tough time in restoring smooth traffic movement on Amravati Road. Though the commuters witnessed such a long traffic jam in city first time on Wednesday, the jams have become a regular activity due to narrowing of the road for construction of flyover between Ravi Nagar and University Campus.
