CITY’S triathlon champion Mrunal Wanjari became Vidarbha’s first person to complete India’s longest and toughest triathlon race twice, earning the coveted title of ‘Tiger Man Ultimate’, recently.
According to a press release issued by Ravindra Paranjpe from Team Tigerman, Wanjari completed the triathlon
inside 20 hours to claim the coveted title.
The gruelling challenge consisted of five kms swimming, 200 kms cycling and 50 kms running all back-to-back and non-stop.
Mrunal conquered the feat in 17 hours 50 minutes, securing an impressive 5th position among 13 participants.
The five kms swimming event was held at Ambazari Lake while the cycling took place on Saoner Road upto Pandhurna and back. The 50 kms running was held at Seminary Hills Road.
A builder by profession, Wanjari is an avid sportsperson and philanthropist. He is the first person in Vidarbha to achieve the Tigerman Ultimate title consecutively for two years after he achieved his first recognition last year, adds the release.
Wanjari has done many half marathons and full marathons and multiple times 100 km cycling in past events.
Dr Amit Samarth (Race Director and Coach), Dr Akhilesh Peshwe (Mentor), Pradeep Keche (Swimming Coach) and others congratulated Wanjari.
