In a rare incident, a woman gave birth to four babies at Kailashnath Katju Women’s Hospital in Bhopal. According to the hospital, the woman, named Jyoti (32), in her seventh month of pregnancy, successfully delivered two boys and two girls through a premature operation. This marks the first instance in the hospital’s history of quadruplets being born. It was the her first delivery. The hospital administration confirmed that this extraordinary case has astonished both the medical staff and the local community.

As far as unique cases are concerned, “Last year, a woman delivered three babies. This time things were not so easy. Their health conditions says that the babies, weighing between 800 grams and 1 kilogram against the normal weight of 3 kg in normal deliveries,” treating doctor said. They are currently receiving special care in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to their low birth weight and the challenges associated with premature delivery. “Condition of one baby is critical, and it is under observation. The delivery was conducted under close medical supervision and the hospital’s team of doctors is continuously monitoring the babies’ health. Despite the inherent risks in such cases, the medical team is optimistic about the infants’ recovery and well-being in the coming days. Doctors have emphasised the importance of providing specialised care to ensure their growth and stability.

This milestone event highlights the dedication of the medical team at Kailashnath Katju Hospital and serves as a reminder of the delicate yet miraculous nature of childbirth, especially in such extraordinary circumstances. The medical community remains hopeful as they continue their efforts to nurture and stabilise the four new-borns. Earlier in the year 2023, a 30-year-old woman had given birth to quadruplets at Sultania Hospital. Out of the four infants, two were girls coincidentally. Strangely, the condition of two of the new-borns then was also stated to be critical. As the delivery was premature, all the infants were under-weight. The infants were later shifted to the Paediatrics Department of Hamidia Hospital.
