Architecture reflects heritage and innovation, says CM Yadav

Highlighting the enduring significance of architectural wisdom from ancient times to the present day, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav inaugurated the national architecture conference ‘Transom’ organised by the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium, Bhopal. Addressing a packed hall of professionals and delegates, Dr Yadav emphasised the historical and cultural value of architecture, noting that legendary ruler Raja Bhoj himself was a renowned architect whose contributions continue to influence the landscape of the region.
 
 
Citing Bhopal Lake as a prime example of ancient engineering, the Chief Minister remarked that the 1,000-year-old water structure, which functions essentially as a dam, remains functional and beneficial for a large population even today. “Constructed with technical brilliance and environmental sensitivity, Bhopal Lake reflects the rich knowledge tradition of our ancestors,” he said.
 
 
Calling the gathering of architects Vishwakarma Bandhu, Dr Yadav linked ancient temple architecture and rituals to deeper philosophical meanings, referencing Bhasma Aarti as a metaphor for the human life cycle. He also highlighted the Bhojpur Temple and the architectural feats of Raja Munj in Mandav as examples of timeless excellence that embody the pride and values of Indian culture.
 
During the ceremony, Dr Yadav felicitated Dr Nidhipati Singhania with the IIA Fellowship for her contributions to architectural innovation and the integration of heritage in contemporary design. The recognition served as a reminder of the evolving yet deeply rooted nature of architecture in India.
