As Waqf Amendment Act comes into force in Chhattisgarh, a 10-member team from the Government of India arrived from Delhi to Raipur to inspect Waqf properties, including the Fateh Shah Market in Tikrapara, with Chhattisgarh Waqf Board Chairman Dr Salim Raj accompanying them.
In a significant statement, Dr Salim Raj recently declared that strict action would be taken against any Mosque or Dargah in State, where discussions against the Waqf Bill occur. He stated that Mutawallis or officials are prohibited from discussing the Waqf Bill within Mosque premises.
Furthermore, Dr Salim Raj had also advocated for the formation of a ‘Sanatan Board’ similar to the Waqf Board.
Regarding the new Waqf Bill passed in Parliament, Dr Salim Raj announced he will be writing to Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging them to establish a Sanatan Board. He believes that the formation of a Sanatan Board would also help curb the unauthorized distribution of land. Dr Salim Raj asserted that the new Waqf Bill is beneficial for poor Muslim women and will contribute to the progress and prosperity of the Muslim community. He also stated that Waqf properties currently occupied by land mafias, contractors, some Mutawallis and prominent Congress leaders will be reclaimed.
