Hospitals asked to verify qualification, registration of medical officers by 21st

Stung with the unfortunate incident at Mission Hospital Damoh, the administration has decided to strictly enforce requisite of certified qualification and registration of medical officers working in all private hospitals and clinics.
All hospitals will have to check the qualification and registration of their medical officers by April 21, 2025, and confirm it in writing to the Chief Medical and Health Officer, Jabalpur. Along with this report, it will also be necessary to mention on a stamp paper of Rs 100 that medical services are being provided in the institution only by authorised and qualified doctors.
According to the instructions issued by the Health Department, all private hospitals in Jabalpur district will have to ensure that all medical officers directly engaged in the care and treatment of patients, must have a valid medical degree obtained from a recognised institution, registration with MP Medical Council, necessary certificates and registration of additional specialist qualification if applicable.
This provision is mandatory under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, Clinical Establishment Act, 2010, and Madhya Pradesh Nursing Home and Clinic Establishment
Act. The hospitals will also have to ensure that only doctors of the same medical system are working there, for which they are trained and registered.
According to Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Sanjay Mishra, all hospital operators will also have to ensure that the services of doctors from other states are taken only if they are registered with the Madhya Pradesh Medical Council (MPMCI). No outside doctor should be allowed to work without valid registration.
The Health Department has clarified that if necessary certificates are not found with any medical officer, he will not be allowed to provide medical services. The concerned hospital operators will be fully responsible for this process. Strict action will be taken as per rules for non-compliance of the order.
