Indian women’s team player Shuchi Upadhyay was honoured by the district administration in the round table room of the Collectorate. Shuchi visited Mandla for the first time after official announcement by the BCCI of 15 players for the triangular series to be held in Sri Lanka. On behalf of the district administration, Chief Executive Officer District Panchayat, Shreyans Kumat welcomed Shuchi by presenting a sapling. Mandla’s daughter Shuchi Upadhyay has brought laurels and made the district and the State proud. Leaving behind lack of sports facilities and obstacles of resources, Shuchi Upadhyay has made her place in the Indian women’s cricket team. With this achievement, Shuchi will now be seen representing India on the international platform. Shuchi has been selected for the tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa.
 
There is a wave of joy in the entire district on this historic achievement of Shuchi. State PHE Minister Sampatiya Uike also welcomed Shuchi Upadhyay. She met Shuchi specially and wished her. The Minister made Shuchi talk to Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on the phone. The Chief Minister also expressed happiness on her achievement and wished her and assured all possible help in the future. Niwas MLA Chain Singh Varkade also met Shuchi and honoured her by garlanding her. He said, “Looking at players like Shuchi, it seems that the daughters of Mandla are no less than anyone. We will leave no stone unturned to promote the emerging talent of the district.” Shuchi Upadhyay said, “It is every cricketer’s dream to reach there. I feel very good after reaching here. I give the credit of my success to Mandla, because this is my karmabhoomi.”
 
The player, who overcame all the adversities, was honoured with the famous Gondi painting of Mandla. On the occasion, Kumat said that it is a matter of pride for our district that the daughter of the district has been selected to play for the country at international level. While talking to Shuchi, he said that this is beginning of your career, you still have a long way to go. This Gondi painting will remind you to stay connected with Mandla. While wishing her all the best, he said that you should make the country proud at the international level by performing brilliantly in the upcoming series. On the occasion, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sub-Divisional Officer Mandla, Tehsildar Mandla, CEO District Panchayat Mandla, BEO Mandla and other concerned were present.
