THREE uniformed Naxals were neutralised in encounter with Security Forces in Indravati forest patches. Acting on intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists in the Indravati region of Bijapur district, a joint team of District Reserve Guard Bijapur and Dantewada, Special Task Force, 210th and 202nd battalions of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action had left for search operations. During searching, the Security Forces came under heavy firing from the Naxals hiding in the forested areas.

 

In self defense, the security personnel also retaliated, leading to cross firing. After the guns fell silent, security forces searched the entire area and recovered the bodies of three uniformed Naxals. As per police, a huge cache of weapons and explosive material has also been seized from the site of the encounter. The identities of the deceased Naxals are being ascertained. The encounter and search operation are still ongoing. Security personnel are reported to be safe.
