has added another feather to its cap with the establishment of its 25th wildlife sanctuary, named the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Sanctuary, in Sagar district. This initiative, driven by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav’s commitment to biodiversity conservation, spans 258.64 square kilometres of forest area. The State Government has officially issued a notification for the new sanctuary. In a post on social media platform X, Chief Minister Dr Yadav shared that the sanctuary will not only provide a safe haven for wildlife but also play a pivotal role in environmental protection, ecological balance, and the creation of local employment opportunities. Dr Yadav emphasised that dedicating the sanctuary to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution, symbolises respect for his legacy and reverence for nature. “

This decision is a step toward inclusive development and a true tribute to Baba Saheb,” he stated. Located in the North Sagar Forest Division, covering the reserved forest areas of Banda and Shahgarh tehsils in Sagar district, the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Sanctuary encompasses a total area of 25,864 hectares (258.64 square kilometres). The formation of this sanctuary is expected to strengthen the regional ecosystem, maintain balance in the food chain, boost tourism, and generate new employment opportunities for local communities.
