A Durg based man has been cheated of Rs 29.81 lakh in crypto currency trading. After sending an invite o the victim on WhatsApp, the accused made him to download Telegram App. They initially returned money to the victim after he complAfter not being refunded the money, the victim finally approached the Pulgaon Police which has registered a case under section 318, 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. The victim Manoranjan Prasad (60), son of late Jugal Kishor Singh is a resident of Anjora.
He told the police that on March 15, he received invitation on WhatsApp and when he showed interest in the crypto trading he was asked to join a Telegram group. The victim said that he completed small tasks given by the accused for which he initially received money into his bank account. The victim was later asked to join another group and was told that it was a group task and he won’t be able to withdraw from tasks in between.
The victim said that between March 15 and March 25, he sent money into the bank accounts and UPI ID shared by the accused on several installments for completing the tasks. On asking, the victim was told that he will be paid Rs 33 lakh, which was never given to him. The victim said that he lost Rs 29.71 lakh in the online cheating.
