A grand musical tribute titled ‘Gajar Bhim Geetacha’ was organised on the eve of Dr B R Ambedkar’s 134th birth anniversary at Gadikhana Ground, Mahal. The event, jointly hosted by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Mahaprajna Buddha Vihar, was part of the civic body’s Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The evening commenced with a soulful Buddha Vandana, followed by floral tributes to revered social icons. Chief Guest, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated the event.

In his address, he emphasised that Babasaheb Ambedkar dedicated his life to establishing social and economic equality. He stated that society must now act upon Ambedkar’s thoughts and bring transformation through action, not just speeches. “Gautam Buddha gave the world the message of peace and non-violence. At a time when the world stands on the brink of destruction due to war, spreading this message is more important than ever,” he said. Renowned Marathi singer and composer Adarsh Shinde and his group mesmerised the audience with powerful renditions such as ‘Soniyaachi Ugavli Sakal’, ‘Krantisurya Tu’, and ‘Maza Bhimraya’. The event witnessed massive audience participation and emotional resonance. The programme was compered by Deep Kakde.
