Under Government of Maharashtra’s ‘Majhi Vasundhara’ campaign, the Besa-Pipla Municipal Council has started tree census in Besa, Pipla, Ghogli and Beltarodi areas. The Besa, Pipla and Beltarodi areas are experiencing a surge in real estate development, with numerous housing projects under construction, indicating a growing demand for residential properties. Due to growing demand of infrastructure projects, rampant tree felling has also taken place in these areas in recent time. Amid these development projects, the tree census will provide the exact scenario of the green cover in Besa-Pipla areas.

Whereas, the Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan includes tree-counting in Nagar Parishads as part of its environment conservation efforts. Meanwhile, these four areas have the lowest green cover and the tree census will give the exact scenario of environment there. Besa-Pipla Municipal Council has deployed Pune-based Abell Electro-Soft Technologies Pvt Ltd company to perform the tree census. “Under Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan, the tree census is underway and we have allotted the company a time span of three months to complete the process,” Bharat Nandanwar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Besa-Pipla Municipal Council told ‘The Hitavada’. There are 17 wards in Besa-Pipla Municipal Council area. The company has completed tree count in two wards, so far, and the process is underway in three other wards. Apart from this, the tree count of 12 other wards is yet to start. The process started in March and it should be finished by May 31.

Whereas, the company completed the tree count of only two wards in last one-and-a-half months. Till May 31, the company has to finish the tree count in all 17 wards. As per information provided by the agency, till date, the tree count in Ward No 2 and 9 has been completed. Whereas, the counting is underway at Ward No 1, 8 and 10.
