District Excise Department nabbed two accused involved in illegal stocking and trade of liquor in two separate raids and seized huge quantity of liquor and a tata safari amounting to Rs 13 lakh.
It may be noted that under the direction of Collector Deepak Saxena, Excise Department has started a special campaign against illegal manufacturing, sale, storage and transportation of liquor in the district.
During the campaign, Excise Department received information about illegal stocking and transportation of liquor. Taking prompt action on the information, a team led by Assistant Excise Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Dubey, District Flying Squad and Control Room In-charge Parmanand Korche conducted a search in Shahpura North circle, under Katangi police station.
The team intercepted a Tata Safari numbered MP-20CD-4787 on the Belkharu-Karari road and seized 324 bulk litres of country liquor being transported illegally. The total estimated value of the seized liquor and the vehicle is around Rs 13 lakh.
In this case, accused Pramod Kumar Jaiswal was arrested and sent to judicial custody under Sections 34(1)(a) and 34(2) of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
In another raid conducted under the leadership of Trainee Excise Sub-Inspector Rupali Jain in Shahpura South (B) Circle, a team raided the residence of Amar Mallah, son of late Chhotelal Mallah, in Village Ghana in Tilwara. During the search, team seized 240 bottles of plain country liquor and 30 litres of homemade illicit liquor, totalling 73.2 litres. The estimated market value of the seized liquor is Rs 22,500.
The accused was arrested on the spot and a criminal case under Sections 34(1)(a) and 34(2) of MP Excise Act, 1915 was registered against him. The raids were conducted by team comprised of Excise SI, Shweta Singh, Head Constable Ramesh Kushram and constables Deepchand Rai, Rakesh Jadoun and Anurag Sharma.
