Cyber Police of Nagpur City Police too have swung into operation in Shalarth ID scam as, on Thursday, they secured custody of officials Ulhas Narad, Divisional Deputy Director, School Education, and peon Suraj Naik. The two were taken into custody after procuring production warrant as the accused duo was lodged in Central Jail post their remand to magisterial custody. The two are accused of facilitating cyber theft of 580 Shalarth IDs that were allegedly misused to facilitate appointment of bogus teachers in Nagpur Division.
So far, Sadar Police, where the offence was registered, were investigating the scam.
They had arrested five persons and on Wednesday, they were remanded to MCR post completion of police custody. But now, Cyber Police have opened new front as the accused persons allegedly created bogus IDs for the beneficiaries of the scam to facilitate salary deposit. It may be mentioned that a seven-member committee was appointed under the chairmanship of Ulhas Narad to probe dubious appointments in the tenure of Netam, then Deputy Education Officer. On March 12, Ravindra Patil, Junior Administrative Officer, Deputy Director, Education office, lodged a FIR as to theft of Shalarth IDs with Cyber Police Station of Nagpur City Police.
Sadar Police arrest one more in scam
Sadar Police have arrested one more person in the ongoing investigation in Shalarth ID scam. As police unravel the case one after another, deeper conspiracy is unfolding, showing systematic manipulation of the records, usage of bogus documents, and misuse of power by officials in School Education Department.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the cops picked up Mahendra Mhaiskar (44), a resident of Awale Nagar, Teka Naka. He was one of the beneficiaries of the largesse of the main accused and
is a teacher in one of the schools at Arjuni Morgaon in Bhandara district. During the investigation, the cops learnt that the kingpin of the scam, Naresh Meshram had prepared bogus educational qualification and experience certificate of Parag Pudke and the same work was carried out through Mhaiskar.
Mhaiskar prepared the bogus documents, used fake stamps to certificate of teaching experience of Pudke when later had not worked anywhere.
With the help of the bogus documents in the name of SKB School, Pudke got appointed and later, was promoted to head a school.
