Cops summon Vaishali Jamdar for questioning

In connection with the Shalarth ID scam, the Sadar Police have summoned Vaishali Jamdar, Divisional Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, for questioning. A notice has been issued, directing her to appear at the police station on April 23. According to the police, Jamdar will be questioned regarding how teachers were appointed using bogus Shalarth IDs. She served as Deputy Director of Education (DDE) from December 2020 before being transferred from Nagpur.
 
Police are examining a large volume of documents and have found that several senior officials are allegedly involved in the scam. Meanwhile, the regular bail applications of five accused, including Deputy Director (Education) Ulhas Narad, were rejected by the Judicial Magistrate First Class on Tuesday.
 
The hearing took place before JMFC Swati Uke, and the police submitted their reply the same day. Judge Uke rejected the bail pleas of all five accused. The accused whose bail was denied are: Pranav Nanaji Pudke (33), resident of Sharda Bhawan, Bhandara; Ulhas Kambaji Narad (54), resident of Kamdhenu Apartment, Manewada Road, Hudkeshwar; Garish Shankarrao Meshram (52), resident of Jai Vighnaharta Society, Gittikhadan; Sanjay Shankarrao Bodkhe (56), staying at Education Board Guest House, Civil Lines, Nagpur; Suraj Pundalikrao Naik (40), resident of Mahalaxmi Nagar, New Narsala Road, Hudkeshwar All five have been in judicial custody since April 16. The case was registered following a complaint by Munna Waghmare at Sadar Police Station. Ulhas Narad was arrested from his residence in Gadchiroli on April 11.
