Amravati rallied well despite being under the pump for most part of the match as they shared point with Kolhapur playing out a 1-1 draw in the morning match played at NDFA’s Dr Ambedkar Stadium in Suyog Nagar.
It was Kolhapur who dominated the entire first half of 40 minutes making waves of attacks on Amravati’s citadel.
However, they lacked finishing inside the box.
Kolhapur’s best chance of going up in the first half came in the 26th minute when Darshan Patil surged ahead from the left flank into the rectangle but missed the target.
Again in the 32nd minute, Yash Shinde and Gonde Ramdas showed co-ordination but were unable to send the ball across the goal line.
After the change of ends, Kolhapur put pressure from the right and succeeded in opening their account.
Two minutes into the second half, a calculated cross from the right into the box forced Sidhesh Salokhe to score with a diving header as Amravati goalkeeper Tanveer Laluwale failed to stop it.
Amravati had very few attempts on the rival post but on one attempt they were lucky to draw the parity.
Moving from the left in the 56th minute, Vicky Datey pushed a low ball towards Siddhant Mohod on top of the D. The forward fumbled and just managed to push the ball towards an advancing Kolhapur custodian Jaykumar Methe, who was caught on the wrong foot, and failed to stop the ball wobbling across the goal line.
Raj Mishra and Nayan Kanojiya from Amravati and Khurshid Ali of Kolhapur were cautioned with yellow cards.
